the creative studio dentsu, teamed up with photographer linden gledhill to create this series of paint sculptures using sound vibrations. the series was part of a campaign for canon’s pixma ink printer brand. the photographs and videos begin by wrapping a membrane around a small speaker. ink drops were placed on this membrane and the speaker was turned on. once it began to vibrate the ink begins to jump up and down. high-speed video cameras and still cameras were used to capture this including circling around the sculptures to see them from all angles. experimenting with different sounds and frequencies created the various pieces.

Within my work, I hope to render traditional icons and imagery within a broader ether of an international intermix that has become the evolution of what seems to be the urban-ideal of the global contemporary. Reinterpretation Edo period imagery as well as contemporary motifs and patterning, I hope to blend what is seen as Eastern and Western aesthetics into one that resists categorization and cultural belonging.

Después de un año dos meses de estudiar en Irlanda, Roy O'Brown (banjista) regresó a su ciudad natal con la intención de conformar una agrupación de música folclórica irlandesa. En el mes de mayo de 2007, un mes después de su regreso, Roy contactó a Gerardo Sampogna, amigo y actual guitarrista de la agrupación, para realizar una presentación musical en un evento privado. Este evento fue el que marcó el inicio de lo que hoy es Phionta Stout.
